Underground Rescue

The aim of the project is to develop an environment for education, training, development and innovation in occupational safety utilizing the unique underground infrastructure of the Pyhäsalmi mine. The target group includes e.g. mining companies and their subcontractors, construction companies, energy sector players, nuclear power station rescue units, research institutes and regional fire & rescue services. The project has received a funding decision on June 25, 2019, and the project is being implemented by the Town of Pyhäjärvi.

As the project progresses, co-operation with national and international companies and partners will be intensified and will provide a basis for future business opportunities at the end of the project.

Council of Oulu Tegion has under article 7 of the act on the financing of the European regional development fund (8/2014) decided, that the project has been awarded a total of 517 502 € funding.
