Networked Robotics Test Beds

In a group project coordinated by the University of Oulu, the Ouluzone, Linnanmaa Campus, the Pekurinkulma property in the center of city of Oulu and the Callio Industry Park in Pyhäjärvi’s infrastructures and their operations are being developed and equipped to a new international level as digitalized, multidisciplinary and collaborative networked test environments for low-emission mobile work machines, drones and robots. The use of robotics and automation in general is increasing strongly in the construction and mining industries. Automatic control of mobile work machines is utilized and developed in both road construction and mining operations. One area of research and product development is the so-called swarm control of a work machine and vehicle group. This enables the entire road construction site to be more efficient. In the project, the University of Oulu, in cooperation with other project partners, is equipping test centers for remote and swarm control, including Linnanmaa Campus and Ouluzone.
